Banks & Torba Province

Torba is the most Northern Province of Vanuatu. It includes the Banks Islands and the Torres Islands. The name of the province comes from TORres and BAnks.

Torba counts less than 10,000 inhabitants who are well-known for being friendly and welcoming. Torba is one of the most preserved provinces in Vanuatu, you will be amazed by it white sandy beaches, the quality of the fresh food, especially seafood, but also its culture, its dense rainforests… The province hosts Mt. Gharat on Gaua, a unique volcano which features at its top a lake containing an island and sports many fascinating geothermal features. Torba does not offer hotel or motel accommodation but the island style bungalows, home-stays, tours and activities on offer are high quality. They are all operated by local communities in respect of the environment.
